Finally… you’re done!
You’ve completed the grueling requirements for your master’s degree in counseling.
You are ready to work in your field – helping others as you set out three years ago to do.
Now… to get to work, you need a supervisor.
You’re fresh from college, so you’ve had internships. You have had the experience with internships that were beneficial and helped direct where you want to go.
Now you need to seek a supervisor who will help you learn, grow, provide feedback, and help you find your style and practice ethically and professionally.
Supervision is a relationship…
Meeting the state of Florida’s requirements for 1500 hours of post-graduate supervision includes face-to-face (telehealth) supervision, 1 hour per week for every 15 clients seen in no less than two years.
The relationship is teaching/learning with positive support. I want to help you become prepared to work independently, comprehensively, and ethically.
You have come to the right place!
In our professional relationship, I’ll provide you a safe place to learn, accept feedback, hear accolades, and get guidance.
We’ll meet weekly to process skills building and provide options for your clients’ many needs.
I’ll help you become the healer and helper you always wanted to be when you started this journey. You will learn to identify your practice theory and focus on honing the skills.
I am thoroughly grounded in using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I use evidence-based practices in my work. The best therapists combine therapies, and I use several of them in my work.
I also incorporate Reality Therapy, psychodynamic approaches, Person-Centered Therapy, and family systems.
We’ll talk about self-care, ethics, clinical competence, and discovering your style.
I have always had the urge and interest in teaching.
At one point in my career, a boss asked me what I wanted to be doing in 5 years, to which I replied, “teach at a community college or university.” My desire to teach was an unrealized goal until I became a Clinical Supervisor.
As I traveled and matured in my career, I realized that what I wanted to do was be a qualified supervisor – teach new therapists in the field and help them find their style, foundation, and awareness in real-time.
Together, we’ll work to make you a helpful, professional, organically genuine counselor!
Let’s talk about the process itself…
First, we’ll meet and determine if we are a good fit. The relationship is long-term, close, and based on trust for you and me.
You will need to trust that I am providing you with quality, professional supervision, and I will need to trust that we can be honest with thoughts and feelings and accept feedback.
We’ll sign a contract and commit to the common goal of your success.
Supervision requires weekly meetings, reviewing work, discussing practice, and completing documentation. The duration is two years and no less than 1500 post-graduate hours.
